🚀 You are promoted based on impact and the perception of it rather than years of experience.🤔 Many data professionals unfortunately equate YOE to career growth, but this sentiment is unfortunately misleading.📈 YOE is linear by definition, while career growth is highly variable and dependent on your environment, whom you work with, and where you put your efforts.🌻 You may be a late bloomer with an exponential curve of career growth. You were confused about the career you wanted, but once it clicked, you just grew tremendously.🏃🏽♂️ Maybe you are a sprinter. You got lucky and worked extremely hard to capitalize on that luck... but ultimately found yourself burnt out and taking it easy for a few years.🎢 Another typical pattern is having a rollercoaster of career growth. You may have crushed it at your first job, had a bad manager in your second job, but now your latest job recognizes your value and you are flourishing.👇🏽 I've experienced all three above patterns in the various stages of my career so far. Which pattern best aligns with your career growth?

🎯 Mark, this is a great call-out. And speaks to the importance of advocating for yourself.Few people will remember your accomplishments and see a reason to promote you unless you make the effort to speak to what you've done and how it benefited the company.

Career growth is a fascinating journey, isn't it? It's a reminder that there's no one-size-fits-all path to success. Each of these patterns reflects the unique twists and turns we encounter in our professional lives. Whether you're a late bloomer, a sprinter, or on a rollercoaster ride, what matters most is the impact you make and the lessons you learn along the way.

Late bloomer matches mine. While I never leftThe workforce, for 9 years I worked part time while we had very young children. So my career grew, but slowly, then took off when I went full time. So my “years of experience” doesn’t align as cleanly as it might for someone who didn’t have that same complicating factor.

For me it's felt like a rubber band. I got valuable experiences in other careers that, once I stepped into data, slingshotted me into doing well. Im not an expert by any means but I do feel like there's way more to the story than my YOE in data

Fastest way to be promoted? Take the mindset and even some of the responsibility of the job you want before you have it. Don’t wait for someone to bless you with a title. You can wait around and try to get a promotion or ask to be promoted instead of defecting. Once you get a new title you realize on day 1 absolutely nothing changed. 😉

Thanks for preaching and sharing this. I couldn’t agree more on that despite I don’t have years of experience to begin with.

You need both the right direction and the right speed to succeed in your career. When you only focus on SPEED without direction, you end up: ❌ Burned out by the frantic pace without seeing any progress. ❌ Wasting time and energy on things that don't help your career. ❌ Achieving short-term wins without finding long-term fulfillment. When you only focus on DIRECTION without speed, you end up: ❌ Falling behind in your career goals. ❌ Missing out on new opportunities and promotions. ❌ Losing motivation because of the lack of momentum. It's important to find a balance between moving with purpose and doing it at a pace where you don’t get left behind. That way, you can make meaningful progress in your career while grabbing the chances that come your way. 💬 Do you agree? What’s an example of where you’ve had both (or only had and not the other) and what did you gain or miss because of it?

Are you feeling stuck in your career?I do, not right now, but once or twice every year…And I know that feeling, feeling that you are wasting your time, your efforts, not learning anything, not improving anything. Challenges that you thought are hard to tackle back then are now your little bitch (please, don’t mind my language). But it is the truth and now I don’t have anything new to work on. Don’t worry hitting a plateau in your career journey can be a weird feeling, but it's also a chance for growth. Here is how you can find growth amidst the stagnant pace of life. I hope it helps you. Also, if getting stressed over it. Don’t embrace the moment, there is always some new to learn and I’m sure you’ll find it. Remember, career stagnation is temporary. With proactive learning and networking, you can uncover new paths and opportunities in the dynamic field of digital marketing.#CareerDevelopment #DigitalMarketing #ProfessionalGrowth

What if I told you that you can grow your career by saying one word? That word is YES.Yes to new opportunities, new challenges, new skills.Yes to stepping out of your comfort zone and learning new things. That’s what career growth really means. Not just promotions, titles, or compensation. Those are the outcomes of growth, not the indicators.Growth is about expanding your knowledge, your abilities, your potential. And the best way to do that is to say yes first, and learn to do it later.Don’t be afraid to take on something you’ve never done before.Don’t be afraid to fail, to make mistakes, to ask for help. That’s how you grow. That’s how you succeed. So, the next time someone offers you a chance to do something new, what will you say?Yes, right?Share your thoughts on career growth in the comments. If you found this useful, please repost.#YES #Career #Growth

Yes, we all know the reasons we can't do something. It's almost a reflex to focus on the barriers. But what if we flipped the script? What if we started looking at all the reasons why we should do something? Take career change, for instance. The 'can't do' list is familiar: • I'm too old • It's too late for me • It's not the right time • I don't have the key skills • I have a stable income now • What if it does notwork out • I have no idea where to start Now, let's turn that around. Why should you consider a career change? • If you're feeling stuck, a new career can reignite your drive. • Diving into a new field broadens your skillset, making you more versatile and valuable in the job market. • Industries evolve; staying nimble by shifting careers can keep you ahead of the game. • A leap into a more lucrative field can transform your financial landscape. • Find a career that fits your lifestyle, not the other way around. • Embrace new challenges; they foster growth and keep you sharp. When you zero in on all the 'why nots?' and flip them into 'why not me?',fuels your drive and makes you more likely to jump into action. Have you ever turned a 'can't' into a 'why not' in your career? I'd love to hear how it changed your path #CareerChange #GrowthMindset #NewBeginnings

The only real failure in life is staying stuck somewhere where you’re not growing. → Changing jobs after 6 months isn’t a failure, it’s an opportunity to learn about a new field.→ Changing industries after years isn’t a failure, it’s a way to find what truly drives you in life. → Starting a business that doesn’t take off isn’t a failure, it’s a learn by doing experience that will set you up for success. → Taking a career break isn’t a failure, it’s a chance to explore your strengths and interests. Travel, see the world, focus on finding your purpose. Don’t live life on static mode, the only failure is staying stuck in the fear of trying. 📍🇩🇪
