These look great on your new Venge! Very curious about your updated ride review as well Lightweight Fernweg 63, anyone? - Page 2 (10).

The greatest thing you get is to look cool, which is priceless for many in this hobby.

True! I can relate to that desire.

Yes please, yes.

In all honesty, I don't understand why people always refer to specs in relation to price. Who cares if it's 19c or 20c or 1.510g or 1.560g (ok ok, this is WeightWeenies). There's always a better deal to be found no matter what you pick.

Cost aside and my choice would be Lightweight Meilenstein's. No-brainer. I don't really care what other people think as long as I enjoy it. Admitted though, the costs of a pair of Fernweg's is outrageous and cost is a factor for me. It makes Zipp's arguably a cheap option, whilst non-cyclists already find that pricing excessive.

How can you get brake rub on a set of disc brake wheels? And if you really get brake rub, isnt it more of an issue with the stiffness of the frame/fork?

in chasing grams, especially for disc brake wheels, the hub stiffness suffers alot. but yes, fork stiffness also has alot to do with it.

Some say pour 10ml water out of your bottle to save that last bit of the weight. Sorry, i go one step further, i tend to the rider off my bikes. Lightweight Fernweg 63, anyone? - Page 2 (13)

Announced today is the Pro version of these, in this 63mm size and also the 85mm version. 130 grams per pair lighter than the non-Pro version. Claimed improvements: "Ultra-smooth ride quality thanks to CeramicSpeed bearings. Pentagon SL Hubs for instant braking control." Disc tubeless only. The 65mm are 1565g per pair. 85mm are 1665g.

Lightweight has not published the price but this US dealer lists both sizes for $10,895. A new world record? https://abovecategory.com/collections/l ... ght-wheels

Is 24mm the internal width? I really hope so... otherwise these are heavier, shallower, and narrower than Industry Nine i9.65, for example. Also heavier, shallower, and narrower than Polaris 69 and a ton of other wheels.

Are Lightweights just bling now?

Granted, the 85mm weight is exceptional.

No, 24mm is external. Internal is 18.2 according to this https://lightweight.info/en/road-bike/w ... 8b2ff571d0

I emailed them ages ago to ask whether they were working on a wider wheel. No reply. All their models have the same width. Forget about the 105 rule and wide tyres. They're a generation behind and have nothing to say about it. Perhaps this is why they don't do many reviews? Their site has links to two in German and one in French. I've had a look at the first one with the help of Google Translate. https://lightweight.info/fileadmin/06_U ... r_sein.pdf The conclusion is that the Obermayers win top marks "even if the small internal width and the pointed V-profile of the rim no longer seem completely new."
So let's ignore all the wind tunnel testing and rolling resistance data which the whole industry subscribes to. Lightweight is the best. Nothing has changed since the days of Ullrich and Armstrong.

Would anyone like to look at the other two reviews?

I think they're pretty much meme material now. Carbovation (parent company) also bought Tune, who remain mostly stuck in the past.

Their USP is price ... being the most expensive thing available.

So decided to be a little silly......bought a used Venge Frame as I always wanted to see how it compares to my favorite Aeroad, the current Generation that is five years old, and which still feels like it is the quickest aero bike available.

And added some Fernweg 63Evo Clincher with Wolfpack Road 26mm tires. Plus a 1x12 AXS Groupset.

Just a quick picture and will get out on it on Thursday. And before anybody ask/comments......my bike fits are different, but they work for me. Lightweight Fernweg 63, anyone? - Page 2 (15) So don’t ask.....and yes I still need to do some minimal adjustment with saddle.

So let’s see how they are....only comment I have until now is that putting tires on was a breeze .... and just from a visual point of view I should have maybe gone for the 83 version.

They can still claim to be among the best for weight, stiffness and durability, but they haven't been the fastest for years, which is presumably why Ineos dumped their (paid for) Meilenstein Obermayers in 2021 and bought the Princeton Carbonworks Peak 4550.

Absolutely. 10k for a deep section wheel that isn't aero-compatible with 28mm tires?

While they may have been innovators they exist these days only to supply those who love their brand more than their value money or performance.

Claimed weight of big brand bling wheels like C23 ultra WTO a different league, and that's before you start looking at radical weenie offerings.

Lightweight is in the market of "I can finally afford the toys I dreamt of in my youth" (much like Campag WRL...), that's it. The permanently laminated spokes do send a strong message of nostalgia and extreme dedication.

The Lightweight product just looks like another reflection of European companies not bothering to innovative or even keep up with trends. Strong branding can only go so far.

On the other hand Campy WRL looks like a credible product and very technically up to date, just at a high price.
