We first shared this recipe in May 2012, and it is still one of our favorites!
Fair warning: this recipe is dangerously good! You will not want to stop making these once you try one.
I am all in for any restaurant recipes I can make at home and not have to get dressed up or change out of my yoga pants. Some days, you just want to enjoy your favorite restaurant food without the stress of dealing with other people. I love that you can make this Wendy's frosty recipe from home in a few minutes.
The blender doesn't care if you did your hair or showered today. All you need to worry about is ensuring you have enough ingredients to make a second one because it is so hard to stop with just one of these Frosties.
We served these when a group of friends was over, and everyone kept going back for another half cup until we finished off multiple each.
SOOOO GOOD! I LOVE that you can make this Wendy's frosty recipe without an ice cream maker! All you need is your favorite blender, and you are ready to go!
We are working on Vanilla Frosty and Strawberry Frosty recipes! I just heard about the Peppermint Frosty and fall pumpkin spice frosty which are now also on the list to be worked on.
I am loving all of the new frosty flavors and reasons to enjoy them year round.

Preparation and Storage
Make Ahead + Storage + Freezing/How to Freeze: We are unsure whether this is good for your waistline, but you can keep ice cream-based treats like the Wendy’s Frosty in an airtight container in the freezer for up to two months.
Just make sure to use a freezer-safe container.
Recipe Variations + Tips for the Best Copy Cat Wendy's Frosty
Substitutions:
You can make this Wendy’s Frosty with any good-quality vanilla ice cream. We like Cool Whip, but any similar whipped topping should work.
Vegetarian Option: This recipe is naturally vegetarian.
Vegan Option: Vegans should replace vanilla ice cream, Nesquik, milk, and Cool Whip with plant-based alternatives to make this recipe vegan.
Gluten-Free:
Gluten-free eaters will need to replace Nesquik with another chocolate mix. The brand confirms that its bottled products are gluten-free, but its powdered varieties are not gluten-free due to the company producing them in a facility that handles wheat.
Ice cream and Cool Whip are generally considered gluten-free but look for products with gluten-free labels if you are highly sensitive.
Alcohol-Free Option:
This recipe does not contain alcohol, but you can make it boozy if you are of age.
This Carnival Cruise Spirit of Kentucky Bourbon Milkshake is the closest alcoholic milkshake on the blog to a Wendy’s Frosty.
The Lulu’s Famous Bushwacker and Carnival Cruise Mocha Chocolate Getaway each have a few more ingredients and would be delicious for coffee lovers. Both contain Kahlúa.
Smaller Serving Size + Larger Group/More Servings: This recipe scales easily to your desired yield, and as covered above, ice cream-based treats freeze exceptionally well, so your only limits are your blender’s capacity and how much of each ingredient you have in your fridge.
Sugar-Free: The written copycat recipe contains 108 grams of sugar per serving, mostly from vanilla ice cream, Nesquik, and Cool Whip. Fortunately, all three ingredients have sugar-free substitutes that can make this Wendy’s Frosty sugar-free.
