I love a good sauce, especially restaurant copycat sauces like Burger King Zesty Sauce, Arby’s Red Ranch, and McDonald’s breakfast sauce. There is something about Outback’s Bloomin Onion Sauce that is just plain irresistible!

You know it’s a good sauce when your pickiest eater keeps requesting the sauce for dinner. She wants it on her chicken nuggets, her french fries, and even her vegetables. This recipe is so easy, I can have it made for her in minutes.

What is Blooming Onion Sauce?

The Bloomin Onion, a deep fried, carved onion appetizer, was made famous by the chain steakhouse, Outback Steakhouse. The onion is served with an amazing, flavorful sauce, they call Bloom Sauce, or Bloomin Onion Sauce.

  • Mayonnaise – Use your favorite mayonnaise.
  • Horseradish – You will want to look for prepared horseradish in a jar, not horseradish cream. I can usually find it in the condiment aisle of the grocery store.
  • Ketchup – Ketchup adds a hint of sweetness to the sauce.
  • Seasonings – Paprika, garlic powder, oregano, salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper

Heather’s recipe tips

  • I recommend letting the sauce sit in the refrigerator for at least an hour to let the flavors come together.
  • If you would like a thicker sauce, add about 1/4 cup extra of mayonnaise.
  • Horseradish is spicy. If you prefer a sauce that is less spicy, you can reduce the amount of horseradish.

How to serve Bloomin Onion Sauce

This sauce is full of flavor and delicious on a variety of different things. I love serving this as a dipping sauce for onion rings, fries, fried shrimp, and chicken tenders.

It’s also delicious spread on sandwiches like hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, and steak sandwiches.
